Since then, many have developed lists of the "modern" Seven Wonders of the
World. The only list that really stands out and has stood the test of time for
more than a decade is the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, developed by the

On the border between two countries, the Iguazu Waterfalls give an exciting demonstration of water's mighty power and beauty. Amongst the nearly three hundred individual falls, the Devil's Throat captivates not only with its frightening name, but with its exceptionally stunning view as well. Nestled in the heart of the tropical lush, this natural phenomenon is a subject to much mysticism. The amazing glory of the local nature can be best captured in the autumn, when the whole park is bathed in iridescent yellow, orange, red, brown, green and blue as far as the eye could see, a true demonstration of nature's skill and rich palette.
3. The Great Wall of China, Beijing, China

Famous for its grand structure, stretching over thousands of kilometers, the Great Wall of China is the only man-made construction, visible from outer space. Designed as a safe-keep of the empire's riches, it is also the longest fortification on the planet and had taken the lives of thousands of people in the process of its creation. The structure passes through desserts, mounts and grasslands, peaking over some of the most astounding eyeshots on Earth.
4. Sand Dunes of Sahara

The desolate lands of this vast have provoked reverence for centuries. Sahara is a magical odyssey that only few can endure and its sandy expanse, bathed in the fiery hues of the sun, is certainly a scenery to behold. Only the local Berbers keep alive the traditions, romance and history of their unusual habitat.
5. Fjords and the Preikestolen Cliff, Norway

The most beautiful fjords in the world are located in western Norway and are sculptured under the impact of glaciers over millions of years. The surrounding landscape is encompassed by crystal glacial lakes, thunderous waterfalls, snow-coated meadows and scarce vegetation. The chasms and cliffs offer a breathtaking horizon, which is especially spectacular at the Preikestolen Cliff - a drop-off, protruding as a lonely pier in the immense abyss.
6. Northern Lights, Norway

Curtains of coloured streams infuse the sky decor of the Arctic and Antarctica - a very interesting natural phenomenon, called aurora or the Northern lights. At some locations it is observed more than 200 times a year and is associated with many legends, regarding its origin. The Vikings perceived the lights as warriors that horse race across the sky, while the Eskimos believed that the aurora served to illuminate the path to the afterlife. The truth is that the Northern lights are the result of interaction of particles from the sun with the Earth's atmosphere. The effect is a gorgeous blend of red, green, blue or violet shades.
7. Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA

Words come short to express the admiration one experiences, when stepping at the South Rim's edge of the Grand Canyon. This true geological monolith has an intricate landscape, unique rock formations and picturesque shapes that merge in a sheer beauty and attract nearly 5 million visitors per year.

Situated along the coasts of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world and has exceptional underwater scenery. 9. Top of Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is one of the largest archaeological sites on the planet. The Lost City of the Incas was built in the 15th century and lies deep in the embrace of the Andes. An ingenious engineering creation of this ancient culture, Machu Picchu enchants with its marvelous palaces, temples and buildings. The most dramatic perspective of the century-old ruins is at the Sun Gate when the first morning rays kiss this land of the past. It is this moment that reveals a sunrise, unmatched by any other on Earth.
