The 50 Most Perfectly Timed Photos Ever
I assume, you as I do, have a
bucket list of photographs that when I am photographing, I am alert to the list
so I am prepared when one of the pictures apears before me to grab the image. I
have often written a favorite quote of mine by Louis Pasteur---
“Chance favors only the prepared mind”. It is amazing how easy to capture that
fleeting baby’s grin in the moments of a shy young daughter’s portrait session.
And how often our client exclaims excitedly, “how did you get that smile? I only
saw her frowns. You are so talented.”
For 20 years, I photographed Arnold Palmer, and may times once or twice a
week. I had to try to give him a different look, different expressions, and
favorably display that charismatic personality. All during times of a sport
that thrives on all a golfer’s motions and movements being duplicated exactly
over and over again. A different look while he is trying to do exactly the same
thing again and again.
One idea on my list is to grab a moment in time that is perfectly timed.
The only importance of the image is that it is a perfect place, a perfect time
and a perfect angle.
By Internet standards, a perfectly timed photo occurs when two of
the following three conditions are met:
1. Perfect Place
2. Perfect Time
3. Perfect Angle
Sometimes the holy trinity of perfectness
is achieved and you get an Internet classic like so many of the photographs
below. There are countless galleries of these images floating around. I tried
my best to compile the most representative of this concept. If you’re craving
more, the following links are a good start: r/PerfectTiming
